I SKCON is an educational institution. As such, we need different types of education at different stages of our lives. We need to educate our children, who are born to practicing members, in Krishna consciousness, we need to provide education and training to train future leaders for our movement. We need to train people who are eager to join our movement. At present, at ISKCON Mayapur we have three educational institutions to our children catering to their differing propensities and interests, three institutions to train adult devotees and one recruitment and training program for new bhaktas. Each of these institutions contains appropriately qualified and dedicated devotee teachers and trainers.
ISKCON Mayapur has also begun offering online education of Srila Prabhupada’s primary books—Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad-Bhagavatam and Caitanya-caritamrta.
Mayapur Online Education is a new initiative of ISKCON Mayapur to produce online courses on the primary books of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada—Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad-Bhagavatam and Caitanya-caritamrita. This educational project is conducted under the guidance and supervision of ISKCON Mayapur’s Educational Divisional Heads HH Bhakti Purusottama Maharaja and HG Sankarsana Nitai Prabhu.
HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami on Online Education:
One of Srila Prabhupada’s repeated instructions to his followers was to read his books. And we can see practically that the more our devotees study Srila Prabhupada’s books while practicing the process of Krishna consciousness, the more they develop enthusiasm to preach Krishna consciousness. Most of our devotees study Srila Prabhupada’s books nicely when they are helped through some study program or course.
Mayapur Online Education is an ISKCON Mayapur initiative to help devotees thoroughly study Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad-Bhagavatam and other major books of Srila Prabhupada. It offers online courses on these books, and they prepare the devotees to study Bhakti-sastri, Bhakti-vaibhava, etc. I am pleased to recommend them to the worldwide community of Prabhupada’s followers.

Srila Prabhupada wrote, “Throughout the world there is no institution to impart education in the matter of spiritual understanding. So we are going to open a big center in Mayapur where this education will be internationally imparted. Students from all parts of the world will go there to take education in this important subject.” The Mayapur Institute aims to fulfill this desire of Srila Prabhupada by establishing Mayapur as a center for higher education and training. Creating a brahminical vision and a spiritual future. As ISKCON’s demographic matures into a broad family-based community there is an increasing need for qualified brahmanas. Such active ministers are needed to serve the diverse needs of the community. These needs include education, samskaras, deity worship, etc. Perhaps you would like to ensure that there will also be someone there when you need them? It is the intention of The Mayapur Academy to fulfil these needs.
New Bhakta Training and Recruitment Center
Recruitment and training of new Bhaktas was established in 1978 with 3 devotees serving. Since then about 100 young men are being trained in this department every year as they join the temple. For about two months, they are systematically educated and trained in different aspects of devotional service. Some of these devotees are also sent to other ISKCON centers to perform services. The training is provided to devotees who know Bengali, Hindi and English, and is imparted under the supervision and counsel of a veteran senior brahmachari Murari Gupta Prabhu. This department has published a new bhakta training book in Bengali and wants to publish in other languages like Hindi, Oriya and English.
